I sit here quietly, fingers tapping against the smooth surface of plastic. I rock anxiously in my chair, every little tilt makes me think I’ll get sick. My heart is pounding faster than, I’m sure, it ever has before. Sure of it. It feels like I’ve run up flights of stairs at full blast, my lungs in my chest reverberating with heavy breath.
Meanwhile, the sound of running water...

Celebrated my best friend's 21st birthday tonight.
It made me realize how much time I’ve missed with everyone. Which makes me feel a wee bit sad.
But then I realized, also, how happy I was that I’ve had this much time with them, too. Which makes me a wee bit happier.

Christmas Shpeel.
With every visit home, things get a little more steady here for me. My parents and I are trying very hard to find even ground, and I think we are finally treading into still, quiet spaces.
It gets rocky sometimes, sure. Words are measured and examined and scrutinized, which makes them, of course, all the more likely to be misinterpreted, bent, and thrust as fast and as hard as sharpened stakes.

I’m preparing myself for tomorrow.
